Methods of Cryopreservation
We are using the Dr. Hal Broxmeyer’s Cryopreservation Protocol. The stem cells are stored in cryovials. It only needs a small volume of cryopreservative due to the full exclusion of red blood cells from the initial collection amount.
The cryovials are stored in liquid nitrogen were the temperature is stable at -196°C during the whole duration of the storage of the cells. We store the collected samples in two separate locations. This is to ensure the safety and availability of the samples in cases of natural disasters.
The cryotanks where the samples are stored are equipped with an automatic monitoring system of liquid nitrogen inflow to prevent the damage of the stored samples.
In the event of an electrical failure or power interruptions a solely dedicated generator is available as backup.
